Sales Processes for the Cheap Win

There’s an assumption held by a lot of first time business owners that setting up a sales team is expensive. Good news! It doesn’t have to be. In fact, the success of your sales team has little or nothing to do with the amount of money in your corporate bank accounts.

All the elements you need to build an amazingly successful sales team cost {literally} nothing.

So what does it take to build a killer sales team, even if you have limited funds? Just one thing – well designed sales processes.

In any businesses if you want to succeed you need to have a replicable way of performing your core activities. For sales this means that you need to have detailed sales processes for:

  • How to source top sales talent
  • How to interview and hire sales talent
  • How to introduce and internalize your company values with the new sales hire
  • How to introduce internal company expectations and processes
  • How to train and provide practice opportunities
  • How to develop real prospects
  • How to develop rapport
  • How to conduct a needs analysis
  • How to move prospects through your sales funnel
  • And so on…

The point is, without proper sales processes all the money in the world won’t help you build and develop a sales team that wins.

And conversely, if you have almost no money, you can still build a great sales team. Provided of course you’ve got great sales processes that set new hires up to win.

The best sales teams in the world don’t happen by just hiring high potential sales people. They happen by tapping into that high sales potential. This requires structured sales processes that standardize every aspect of the sales function.
